Microsoft Disables Windows 10 to 11 Upgrade Tool Ahead of Support Deadline

Microsoft has disabled the Windows 10 to Windows 11 upgrade tool just days before the end of support for Windows 10 on October 14. Users must either upgrade to Windows 11 or opt for extended support to continue receiving updates.

Reports indicate that the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool version 26100.6584, released on September 29, is experiencing issues on Windows 10 devices. Users have encountered crashes with no error messages when attempting to use the tool for upgrades.

The Media Creation Tool is designed to create bootable USB drives or DVDs for installing Windows 11. However, it is currently not supported on Windows 10 devices that operate on Arm64 processors.

Testing by various users has confirmed that the tool fails to launch properly. After initiating the installation, the application closes unexpectedly, preventing any upgrade from occurring.

To address this issue, Microsoft suggests using the Windows 11 Installation Assistant or downloading the ISO file for a smoother upgrade process. Instructions for these alternatives are available on the Microsoft website.

With the support deadline approaching, users are encouraged to explore these options to ensure they can transition to Windows 11 without disruption.
